Change of tack. I'll try to talk as little about work as possible from now on and concentrate on other stuff.

Politics, Web Design, Traveller RPG, The House, Science fiction, Science "fact", other stuff.

I've taken a big break from posting as my iBook went tits up. The logic board blew and it was a hugely expensive fix. So I'm back now and trying to be more productive.

So here we are, moving in two weeks time. I'm petrified, I hate moving house but Jane is an expert. She has had over two dozen homes since she went to college aged 18, not counting halls of residence.

The whole buying/selling experience was not as stressful as I thought it would be. The whole negotiation with the sellers went ok, they agreed to a 21st April entry date (instead of wanting us in by the end of February).

We only had one viewing and they came the day we went on the market. Cash buyers and wanting to move on 7th April and full price. Wish I'd asked for more now. :-)

So now we need to organise a new kitchen, pack up (70% there already) and move.

Work has been different. The other Saturday night we as a crew were right royally shafted. The jobs we got were all pish. Emergencies that were ordered by Doctors because they wanted beds cleared, urgent jobs that were out of time and the like. Also twice that night wards refused to accept the patients we were transferring as it was too late at night or they were not informed of the transfer!!? Our control was not much help either.

We also did a lot of emergencies driving from one end of Edinburgh to the other. Seems that resources were not beeing handled efficiently. The upshot of this was we didn't receive a break until 8 hours into the shift, no second break and they tried to give us another job 10 minutes after the shift was over.

I'll talk more later

Never a dull day but today has been reasonably uneventful. There was some brief excitement when we rescued a woman who had trapped and crushed her hand in some rollers at a food factory. Nasty but overall not life threatening. Otherwise the usual mix of minor injuries, chest pain and breathing difficulties.

As to yesterday they hadn't managed to dig the "swampies" out of their tunnel system when we knocked off at 1930hrs. Fantastic...12 hours overtime to sit and do nothing.

On the house front we discovered that the vendors are a separated couple and it may take some time to organise an agreement, fingers crossed eh?

As far as my Mac goes, got some new toys yesterday, a graphics tablet and a text scanner. Not had time to play with them yet. Also got OS X Tiger and iLife 06. Have a think before I upgrade my little 12" iBook. Looking for a free FTP client and XML editor. No ideas yet.
